Construction Safety Manager Location: Columbus, OH Duration: 2+ Months (Start: Immediate Need) Type: 1099 Contractor CompensationSchedule Pay Rate: $60/hr Per Diem: $150/Day Completion Bonus: $150/month Pay Frequency: Weekly Schedule: Monday-Saturday | 60 Hours Per Week Why This Opportunity? Join a structural steel contractor supporting construction at the Downtown Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. Project scope includes structural steel erection, ironworker activities, steel connections, decking operations, rigging, and material placement. The Construction Safety Manager will provide daily field safety oversight for structural steel crews, ironworkers, foremen, and supervision while ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and project-specific safety standards. Required Qualifications CHST, ASP, CSP, or Higher BCSP Credential Required Minimum 5+ Years of Construction Safety Experience Structural Steel and Ironworker Safety Oversight Experience Required Experience Conducting Field Audits, Inspections, Observations, and Hazard Assessments Strong Knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards Ability to Maintain a Highly Visible Field Presence Preferred Qualifications Structural Steel Erection Experience Ironworker Construction Experience Commercial Construction Experience Healthcare Construction Experience Rigging and Critical Lift Oversight Experience General Contractor or Multi-Employer Site Experience What You'll Be Doing Provide daily field safety oversight for structural steel construction activities Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments Monitor steel erection, decking installation, connecting activities, and rigging operations Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), permits, and pre-task plans Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project Technical Knowledge Candidates should have working knowledge of: OSHA Construction Standards Structural Steel Erection Safety Ironworker Operations RiggingCritical Lift Activities Steel Deck Installation Material Handling Operations Fall ProtectionElevated Work Connecting and Leading Edge Work Aerial LiftsMEWPs Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Incident InvestigationCorrective Actions Contractor Safety Management Construction Risk AssessmentMitigation What Success Looks Like The ideal candidate is a hands-on, field-focused safety professional with experience supporting structural steel and ironworker operations on active commercial construction projects.
